Scott’s New Jeep Wrangler YJ

Scott's 4x4 By: Add comments

After four wheeling my CJ5 for sometime I decided that I want more. I had a decision to make, did I want to buildup my CJ5 or start over. I decided that the CJ5 was not the ideal platform for a 4×4 buildup. It was time for me to find another vehicle.

A few months went by and I finally found a built rig that fit my needs perfectly. It was a built 1991 Jeep Wrangler YJ. The jeep had many advantages over my old CJ5, longer wheelbase, stronger frame, fuel injected and the list goes on. This jeep was a big jump from my small CJ, it opened up an entirely new 4×4 arena that I was not familiar with. The larger 39.5 Super Swamper tsl’s tires and Detroit lockers took me places that my old CJ could only dream of going.

1991 Jeep Wrangler Specifications

  • 39.5 Super Swamper TSL’s
  • Dana 44 front Axle
  • 14 bold rear axle
  • 4.88 gears
  • Detroit lockers front and rear
  • Spring over axle with 2 ” Rubicon Express springs
  • High Angle front driveline
  • 20lb CO2 tank

Overall this Jeep was a HUGE improvement over my old CJ5.
